My LOVEFiLM love affair

I recently recieved a voucher from Amazon.co.uk offering my a £20 gift voucher if I signed up to a 30-day free trial of Lovefilm. (Amazon now owns lovefilm). Seeing the offer too good to be true I gave it a go, let me say now it was worth it.

I signed up on the lovefilm website, which was a pretty painless process, picked my films/games (you're told to pick 10 so that the posting runs smoothly) and away I went. Two days later I recieved my games, Brink, Fable 3 and Red Faction: Armageddon. The cancellation procedure is just as painless as signing up, as long as you cancel before your trial runs out (You'll be charged the next month otherwise).

However please be wary that although they try to deliver your priority choices, they favour paying customers over free trial spongers (like myself) so you may get the odd eclectic choice of dvd or game.

Here's the link to the site for a 30-day free trial and £10 gift voucher, if you have too much time on your hands give it a go !

The Difficult Second Album/Post

The Infinite Monkey Cage

Thought I would start this new post with something new. I hope some of the people who read this would be science lovers like myself. If so, please give "The Infinite Monkey Cage" a go. It's a BBC Radio 4 show fronted by Prof Brian Cox (of Wonder of the Solar System/ D-Ream fame) and Robin Ince ( comedian of The Office fame) which tries to tackle science on the broader front to people. Now in it's 4th series, I will admit I only started to listen to this a few months ago, but I have been hooked.

There is the right mix of comedy and science and deep discussion, so please at least give one episode a go.

p.s Death of Pi (apparently there's a group of people trying to replace the number Pi with a new number, travesty)

Take That - Please haters, have a little .... Patience

After great demand -cough- , my first post will be on the Take That concert I attended in Cardiff on the 14th of June. Let me start by saying that.. as a certified heterosexual, I enjoyed myself. Like many of you I was skeptical  of the singing prowess possessed by Robbie and Co, and at roughly £80 a ticket it certainly was a hefty gamble to take, that was for sure -see what I did there?-
Let me set the set the scene for everyone, 61000 adoring fans with an average age of roughly 40. You can taste the oestrogen on your lips, the roar of the crowd as an advert for Take That -sponsored by Samsung- appeared on the tv's without any appearence of the group themselves..........
Then, suddenly, as I was pre-occupied by other more interesting things -like the fact somebody was sitting in another persons seat- when Gary Barlow appeared. To say the crowd screamed would be severly underestimating the power of 61,000 moist women. The rest of the gang appeared, they sung, I clapped along with the thought that something was missing from this frankly amazing set piece.
Robbie appeared, I must say I used to loathe the man, arrogant, talentless... I could go on. But goddamn can that man control a crowd. After bashing out in my personal opinion the best songs of the show -in terms of crowd reaction- like Angels, Rock DJ. The group finally felt complete. Two hours of fantastic spectacles such as a 60ft robot, waterfall stage, abseiling from the ceiling. I left the venue a changed man. Without a shred of embarrassment I can confidently say.

 I like Take That
